sumbul3d.gif (138 bytes)    LILO single boots problem.

At the LILO BOOT prompt I entered "linux single" .  I was successfully booted up as "root" ( after entering root's password).  However I was unable to correct a problem that I had because  the file system was a "read only fs".  I could  edit  all I wanted but I could not save my changes. I also could not delete or rename
any files because of the "read only fs".  Any clues as to why my fs was read only ??

I'm using SuSE 6.1 and the "LILO" prompt was from the MBR and not a recovery floppy.

Answer:

you could try the -remount option to mount:

"remount
Attempt to remount an already-mounted file system.
This is com-
monly   used  to  change the mount flags for a file
system, espe-
cially to make a readonly file system writeable."
